Spray polyurethane foam, also known as SPF, is a great way to insulate steel or metal buildings. Spray foam has many benefits for the consumer in that it accomplishes much more than just thermal insulation.
SPF insulation is very beneficial to protecting steel buildings from the elements and unwanted pests. It increases comfort levels and energy costs by keeping cold air in during the summer and warm air in during the winter. These results are achieved in part by SPF beginning in liquid form; filling cracks and small spaces other insulation systems can’t. The liquid polyurethane transforms into hard, solid foam when dried. This increases structural rigidity by up to 250%! SPF’s high R-value prevents condensation common in steel structures.
